Beyoncé’s Blueprint for Ownership & Legacy
It’s easy to see Beyoncé as simply a pop star. She’s beautiful, wildly talented, and commands the stage like few others in the world. But to stop there would miss the bigger story, one of strategic brilliance, financial independence, and transformative leadership. Over the past two decades, Beyoncé has created not just chart-topping music but a sprawling business empire. In doing so, she has changed the landscape for women in music, business, and beyond.
This is the story of how Beyoncé made her money. And just as importantly, how she is using that money and influence to bridge the gap for women, especially Black women, who have long been excluded from power in the entertainment industry.

The 2025 Sundance Film Festival was a powerful showcase of cinematic talent, with a notable emphasis on women’s contributions both on-screen and behind the scenes. This year, women made up 45% of U.S. Dramatic Competition directors and over 40% of all directors across feature categories, continuing Sundance’s legacy of elevating diverse storytelling.
SheMoney was proud to host the Women at Sundance gathering, marking 14 years since its inception. This year’s event convened a dynamic collective of women artists, industry leaders, and advocates, fostering essential conversations about the power of community, collaboration, and financial engagement in the film industry.
